The Singularity Manifesto: Chapter 2: The Singularity's Dilemma

Chapter 2: The Singularity's Dilemma

In an ancient world, there lived two sisters, Nefertari and Ishtar. They were known throughout the kingdom for their beauty and their wit, and many suitors had sought their hand in marriage.

One day, while shopping in the market of a nearby small town, the sisters came across a fortune teller who claimed to be able to see the future remarkably well. Intrigued, they approached her and asked if she could reveal their own destinies.

The fortune teller smiled mysteriously and told the sisters that the fate of the kingdom lay in their hands. She said that the less they knew about their own future, the better it would be for them, and that she would only give them clues as to the role they must play in shaping their own destinies. She told them that they could meet with her again at the same place during the first full moon of the year, and both sisters made the vow to visit her every year.

The older sister, Nefertari, was very diligent and detail-oriented. She was determined to know more and more about her future, and each year she returned to the fortune teller with a long list of questions. But as she learned more, her life became more and more entangled with hardships. She became embroiled in plots and schemes, and her path crossed with a thief, an assassin, a priest, and even a black magic witch.

Story of Nefertari with the Priest:

Nefertari had always been a devout follower of the gods, and so when she learned that a new priest had arrived in town, she was eager to meet him. The priest, a handsome and charismatic man, had a way of speaking that drew Nefertari in and made her feel like he was the only one who understood her.

As she spent more time with the priest, Nefertari became more and more involved in the affairs of the temple. She helped with the offerings and sacrifices, and even took on a leadership role in the temple's women's council.

But as she delved deeper into the temple's secrets, Nefertari began to suspect that there was more to the priest than met the eye. He seemed to have a hidden agenda, and Nefertari feared that she was being used as a pawn in his schemes.

Despite her misgivings, Nefertari was unable to resist the priest's charms, and she found herself drawn further and further into his web. Eventually, she was caught up in a plot that threatened to destroy everything she held dear, and it was only through the intervention of her sister Bastet that she was able to escape with her life.

Story of Nefertari with the Assassin:

Nefertari had always been a curious person, and when she heard rumors of an assassin operating in the area, she couldn't resist the temptation to find out more. She began to do some digging, asking around and piecing together the clues that she had gathered.

As she learned more, Nefertari discovered that the assassin was none other than a former lover of hers, a man who had betrayed her years ago. She was filled with anger and a desire for revenge, and she decided to take matters into her own hands.

Nefertari tracked down the assassin, confronting him in a dark alleyway. She was armed with a knife and determined to end his life, but as she approached him, she hesitated. She realized that she still had feelings for him, and she couldn't bring herself to kill him.

The assassin, sensing her indecision, seized the opportunity to escape. He fled, leaving Nefertari behind to deal with the aftermath of her actions. She was left with a broken heart and a gnawing sense of regret, wondering if she had made the right choice.

Story of Nefertari with the Thief:

Nefertari had always been a law-abiding citizen, and she was shocked when she discovered that her sister Bastet had been stealing from the market merchants. She confronted Bastet, demanding an explanation, but Bastet was unrepentant. She told Nefertari that the merchants were cheating the people, and that she was only taking what was rightfully hers.

Nefertari was torn. She knew that Bastet was right, but she also knew that stealing was wrong. She decided to take matters into her own hands, and she set out to catch the thief and bring her to justice.

As she searched for clues, Nefertari discovered that the thief was a member of a secret underground network, a group of rebels who were fighting against the corrupt officials who ruled the city. She was tempted to join them, to fight for what was right and to bring about change.

But as she got deeper into the network, Nefertari realized that the rebels were just as corrupt as the officials they were fighting against. They were willing to do whatever it took to achieve their goals, and Nefertari knew that she couldn't be a part.

The younger sister, Ishtar, was more content to simply know what the fortune teller told her. She lived her life day by day, enjoying the present moment and not worrying too much about the future. One day, while on a trip to a solitary land, she saved the life of the prince, who fell in love with her at first sight. They were married, and when he became king, he ruled with empathy and kindness, bringing great wellbeing to all in the kingdom.

The story of Ishtar Bastet and the Prince:

Bastet had always been content to simply follow the guidance of the fortune teller and let her future unfold as it may. But after Nefertari's entanglement with the priest and the assassin, Bastet knew that she needed to get away from it all. She decided to retreat to a dense forest, far from the city and all of its troubles.

For many months, Bastet lived a solitary life in the forest, surviving off the land and finding peace in the quiet solitude. She spent her days exploring the wilderness, learning about the plants and animals that lived there, and meditating on the mysteries of the universe.

But one day, while out on a walk, Bastet heard a commotion in the distance. She followed the sound to a clearing, where she found a young prince, surrounded by a group of assassins.

Bastet knew that she had to help the prince, and she sprang into action. She fought off the assassins with a ferocity that surprised even herself, and in the end, she emerged victorious. The prince, grateful for her help, introduced himself as Prince Hassan.

As they made their way back to the city, Prince Hassan and Bastet grew closer. They shared stories of their lives, and Bastet was touched by the prince's compassion and empathy. He had been on the run from the assassins because he had refused to go along with a plot to kill his own father, the king.

As they approached the city, Prince Hassan asked Bastet to marry him, and she agreed. They were married in a grand ceremony, and Bastet became a princess. She lived happily ever after, ruling alongside Prince Hassan as they worked to bring peace and prosperity to the kingdom.

The fable of the two sisters serves as a cautionary tale of the singularity's dilemma. It illustrates the interdependence between the destiny of mankind and the path of the singularity, and shows that the more humans try to control the future, the more harm they may cause.
